Highlights from 2016 season….

Well done to the dynamic duo of Brian Rowan and Stevie Todd who saw off the spirited challenge of John McWhirter and Bill Alexander 18-8. The score does not do justice to the losers who were undone by one calamitous end where they lost 7 shots.

John Lorimer and Alistair McFadzean beat a gallant pairing of Tom McMoneagle and Billy Herd 15-12 in the Senior Pairs. In a tense encounter it was 13-12 going into the final end, but despite Billy ‘s best effort, there was no way through a crowded head to deliver the bowl that would have taken the game to a sudden death end.

On Sunday 28th August, Alistair McFadzean was involved in another comeback bid in the Club Pairs, with Alistair and his partner, Tom Brown coming back from a 14-3 deficit (after conceding an amazing 10 shots in 2 ends) to make it 14-12 before running out of steam, and ends, to eventually lose to the impressive team of Stevie Todd and Tom Howson, 20-12.

After a thrilling struggle, Alistair McFadzean drew the winning bowls after he and Bill Alexander were tied 20-20 in the final of the Novice Cup. Bill had come back valiantly from 18-7 down, and came agonisingly close to pulling off the greatest comeback this season.

Brian Rowan was the winner of the highly competitive Monday evening League, seeing off the challenge of John McWhirter and Bill Alexander.

The Gents Championship played on Saturday 20th August, produced the astonishing result of 21-0 win for Stevie Todd over defending champion Vic Crockford.

Brian Rowan beat Tom McMoneagle 21-10 in the Presidents Cup, and Vic Crockford bounced back from his Championship setback in the Senior Singles against Tom Howson, winning 21-12.
